Doula Fund
Doula Fund
Please help us fund doula assistance for a family in need.
Nurse-midwives and doctors are often covered by insurance. Doulas are not. And for those without family nearby, first timers who feel overwhelmed, who are having a home birth and need extra assistance, who are higher risk, need help advocating in the hospital, want some one to help the partner be more involved, want extra support through an unmedicated birth, during labor, after birth, bereavement, who want some one they can call instead of Googling questions that send you to Web MD and then into a panic — doulas are the glue.
Working with doula Davinah Simmons makes us feel empowered and excited to have an unmedicated home birth in the midst of a global pandemic — words I never thought I’d write.
She is dedicated to offering a sliding scale rate so she can assist both those who can afford her services and those in the community who cannot but would especially benefit.
As a show of appreciation for Davinah’s important expert work in the community, Emmett and I will donate these funds in addition to our own to Davinah’s birth fund in our baby’s name — whatever that is!
